This October, we hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM 2023) to review the year\u2019s activities and begin our planning for 2024\/25. We hope all our members can attend. Non-members still have time to\u00a0register<\/a>. The new City of Cape Town CID by-law and policy came into effect on 1 July and that is available to view\u00a0online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our CID has undertaken several urban beautification projects this Spring, adding greenery and cleaning up public areas of Glosderry.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, the recent bout of storms and cold fronts experienced in the Cape have certainly added to the work of the CIDs, in particular in the way of road maintenance and fallen trees. We\u2019d like to remind you at this time to assist us in providing effective service by\u00a0logging a service request<\/a>\u00a0for any faults encountered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spring Greening Glosderry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During every budget cycle, we as the CID have been working towards placing additional public seating in every part of the Glosderry CID area in order to provide areas of pause for people working or living in the area, to enjoy a moment to sit down outside. We have placed four benches thus far within the improvement district and have also added some greenery by placing large planter pots in the vicinity of the benches, to beautify and add greenery to the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our CID are the custodians of the pot plants and regularly water and maintain the plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New cameras for Glosderry CID<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every year, we also slowly but surely expanding the CCTV network for the Glosderry improvement district and we will be adding additional cameras in Warrington Road this cycle. We are also working on a project to provide electrical battery backups to all our camera sites during this financial year to ensure all our cameras remain working during loadshedding. Very often, the criminal element uses the opportunity that loadshedding presents to move around in areas of darkness and thereby commit crimes by the opportunity given with loadshedding. With our cameras being backed up by batteries, we will soon be able to better assist in protecting and safeguarding the Glosderry improvement district area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New CID By-law Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new CID by-law policy came into effect from 1 July, which serves \u201cTo provide for the establishment of City Improvement Districts; to provide for additional rates; and to provide for matters incidental thereto.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City of Cape Town\u2019s by-law and policy regarding the establishment and management of City Improvement Districts has gone through several iterations over the years since the concept of a CID was first tested in the year 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest revisions of the by-law and policy comes as more than 50 CIDs are now in operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Logging a service request with the City<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You too can assist with urban management and the growing number of faults and service requests that the City and our CID deal with on a daily basis. By reporting water and electricity faults and other maintenance requirements such as potholes, missing road signs or blocked stormwater drains, through the correct channels<\/em>, we and the City are able to attend to these service requests and log their status in an effective way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are multiple channels through which you can do this \u2013 the easiest being the online portal at capetown.gov.za\/servicerequests<\/a>, which is also now available in the City of Cape Town mobile app<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
